Hey guys, I was hoping someone on here could give me some advice. I recently bought a used 2014 TRX90 for my son and plan to give it to him at Christmas. The thing is in awesome shape, but the previous owner let it sit for about 7 months, and it has idle issues, etc. I suspect the carb is gummed up pretty bad.

I have a rebuild kit I'll be going over it with this week, and I'm hoping that will solve the problems, although I don't mind purchasing a new carb if I have to. Only problem is the OEM carb for this model is out of stock everywhere I have looked. I've had one on backorder through Motosport.com for well over a month.

They do, however, have a carb in stock for the 2012 and older models. The part numbers are different, but I thought the carbs on these were pretty much the same dating years back? Can anyone tell me for certain if a carb from a 2012 will bolt right up to a 2014?

I'm trying to get this thing running like a top before Christmas.

Thanks!!

Thanks. I'll give it a try. Only problem is Motosport said the same thing. Said it usually ships in 5-7 days and then told me it was backordered. Maybe I'll have better luck with Partzilla.

I'm still curious if a carb for a 2012 would be plug and play? That's my plan B.

Give your carb a good clean with the rebuild kit you have.. it'll straighten it out.. There's a sticky here that's goes over cleaning carbs...

To answer your question about the 2012 carb.. according to Partzilla they're not the same...

Yes - refurb your original carb. It's not the hard and you might even be able to avoid buying a kit.

Empty that old gas from the tank or you will be cleaning your carb again soon.

Switch to "no ethanol" fuel if available in your area. It is much gentler to your carburetor and stores better over the winter.

if you want to know if yr carbs are the same, look up part numbers on the two different yrs , if numbers are the same then there is your answer!

He already said the part numbers are different. I agree, you should be able to get the carb cleaned up pretty good on a 2014 model. I have cleaned up 30 year old carbs that sat with gas in them forever. I usually end up replacing the pilot jet because I can't get them cleaned out.
